Requiem for Aleppo

at Sadler's Wells Theatre
on Dance Theatre | Contemporary | Ballet |
Address: Rosebery Avenue, London EC1R 4TN

Twelve dancers from around the world come together to express their solidarity with the people of Aleppo through the medium of dance. The world premiere of David Cazalet’s composition Requiem for Aleppo is underscored by the personal reflections of the city’s inhabitants, representing all parts of society, and interwoven with medieval Arabic poetry. This extraordinary and haunting lament is a deeply personal response to one of the greatest tragedies of our age – it is an appeal to our common humanity, an expression of grief articulated in movement and music.

Requiem for Aleppo is a brand new work created and conceived by composer David Cazalet with choreography by Jason Mabana and featuring Juliana Yazbeck. The event will be live streamed to different cities throughout the Middle East and Europe. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to the charities Syria Relief and Techfugees.
