Ballet Black - pas de deux/New Work
The critically acclaimed Ballet Black strive to honour the traditions of classical ballet while breaking new ground with cutting-edge choreography. Now an essential part of the classical ballet landscape, the company is the perfect showcase for dancers of black and Asian descent, providing them with a platform on which to perform and practise their craft.
Unsurprisingly, Ballet Black attracts dancers, choreographers and designers from around the world. This programme includes a specially commissioned pas de deux by the Royal Ballet’s Jonathan Watkins ; Martin Lawrance returns to make a quartet after his great success with Pendulum in 2009, Jonathan Goddard from Rambert Dance Company is creating a new solo and Christopher Hampson is making a new narrative ballet with designs by Gary Harris.
