A Celebration of Bob Lockyer at The Place
Bob Lockyer’s 40-year career as director and producer of dance programmes for BBC television has played a huge part in developing the art form’s popularity.
To mark his 70th birthday, five of the country’s outstanding dance artists – Richard Alston, Mark Baldwin, Siobhan Davies, Wayne McGregor and Monica Mason – together present an evening of original choreography as a tribute to Bob Lockyer’s life and career.
The performance features dancers from Rambert Dance Company, Richard Alston Dance Company, Wayne McGregor | Random Dance, London Contemporary Dance School and The Royal Ballet School, and live musical accompaniment.
The programme features new works by:
- Richard Alston
- Mark Baldwin
- Rob Binet (Choreographic Apprentice at The Royal Ballet, commissioned by Wayne McGregor)
- Sebastian Goffin (graduate-year Royal Ballet School student, commissioned by Monica Mason)
- Charlie Morrissey (commissioned by Siobhan Davies)
Tickets for this special performance are £20, including a £10 donation to be shared between two funds supporting the creation of new dance works: the Royal Philharmonic Society Drummond Fund and The Place’s Pioneering Fund.
