London’s new playhouse, which includes two performance spaces, a studio, and a main house based on the designs of the original bankside playhouse. The Rose aims to host the very best in UK touring theatre, dance, comedy and music, but from Autumn 2008 will start to produce its own work, as well as continuing as a receiving house. Sir Peter Hall is Director Emeritus, and Stephen Unwin Artistic Director.

Types of performances
A varied programme which caters for the local residents of Kingston and beyond. The theatre aims to cater for the large student population locally as well.

Seating capacity
Main house: 900 seats. Studio: up to 200 seats

The Rose is fully accessible, and front of house staff are trained in disability equality

History
The Rose opened in early 2008 after many years of planning and building.

Transport
Overground:
Kingston Train station – The Rose Theatre is a 15-minute stroll from Kingston Train Station. Trains run regularly to and from London Waterloo and these take approximately 25 minutes.

Bus:
K1, K2, 57, 65, 71, 85, 111, 131, 213, 216, 281, 285, 371, 406, 411, 465, 726.

Parking:
The closest car park to the Rose is Drapers car park in Kingston, on Kingston Hall Road (the entrance is on High Street), 2 minutes walk from the theatre and open until midnight. Parking is charged at £1.20 per hour and just £1 after 6.30pm. To avoid queing after performances, it is advisable to obtain a pre-paid parking ticket.

There are a number of other car parks in Kingston, should you wish to take advantage of its shopping facilities during the day, including the Bentalls Centre and John Lewis car parks. Please note that these close early and are therefore not appropriate for patrons who are visiting the theatre for an evening performance.

Driving:
Kingston town centre is largely pedestrianised. A one way system is in operation in Kingston and this can be extremely busy during peak traffic periods. Please leave yourself plenty of time when driving to the Rose Theatre.
