Review extracts
“Tavaziva’s facility for devising hot, liquid motion is indisputable…“ The Times

“The most defining feature of his movement is the attack of the dancers, the strength of their technique and their joy in dancing.” The Stage

“Bawren Tavaziva has established himself as a dominant talent within the African dance diaspora, as well as a significant voice within the British dance scene.” The Guardian

Production highlights
Through a synthesis of ballet, contemporary and African dance, Bawren Tavaziva’s interpretation of the Carmen story is strikingly fierce yet sensual and is beautifully performed by six dancers. The sound track is composed and arranged by Fayyaz Virji of the Warriors International.

Played out through the entanglement of desire, deceit and corruption in an African township where military corruption is rife, Carmen dangerously and defiantly ignores all warnings in the perusal of a better life but tragedy follows her like a shadow in hot sun.

“Brilliant!…..Fearsome Dance………Visceral Chorography…..Raw Emotive Content…..The 7 dancers were superb and cannot be praised enough for the prowess and athleticism of what was a highly-charged and physically demanding piece of contemporary dance… Tavaziva Dance is among the very, very best.” Audience member, 2016 Tour
