dANTE OR dIE make dance-theatre performances which tiptoe under your skin and caress the back of your neck. Since forming in 2004 the company has taken trumpets and tubas, dancers and actors, writers and visual artists to a disused aircraft hanger, a ski-lift and a ship on the Thames for their productions which combine physical theatre with dance and music. At the Dublin Fringe Festival Caliper Boy was nominated for the prestigious Spirit of the Fringe Award 2007 and they have been commissioned to create work for Latitude Festival. They most recently performed at the Theatre Royal Haymarket and the National Theatre’s Watch This Space Festival with their production in development La Fille à la Mode.

dANTE OR dIE offer a range of multi-disciplinary workshops – from 2 hour devising sessions to day and week-long site specific residencies, our work with young people is always tailored to the space and group with whom we are working.

Recent work includes a week long residency at Lyric Hammersmith creating site-responsive dance theatre based on the theatricl personalities locked inside the walls of the historic theatre. This is inspired by our current production in developent La Fille a la Mode.

Since dANTE OR dIE was formed, the company has always put an emphasis on educational work. The focus has been on an exchange of ideas and a research as practice ethos. Thus, all our educational work informs our creative processes, as much as our methods of working will guide the young people we work with.
