VOCAB DANCE COMPANY is dynamic and talented young company founded by Alesandra Seutin in 2007 and was created with the vision of fusing African traditional dance with contemporary dance and urban dance forms to distinctly create Afro-eclectic dance theatre from a feminine perspective.
Based in London, the company aspire to ensure continuity by strengthening and expanding their national and international community via on-going professional education, development of new audiences, nurturing young talent and presenting outspoken dance works in a variety of settings.
VOCAB DANCE COMPANY works with diverse collaborators/artists to create multidisciplinary performances focused around the exploration of subjects, which influence our society, and with this captures its audience into a journey of compelling and outspoken dance theatre. The choreography is created from the inside out; producing raw and engaging work, driven by the dancers’ energy.
The aim of VDC work is to help audiences see the connection between modern African dance forms and traditional dance through the fusion created when contemporary dance and Urban Dance are added. Alesandra wants to develop audiences for both contemporary and African dance; her work sits in an interesting place merging forms to create one vocabulary; it is therefore not what either Western or African audiences might expect but an exciting hybrid.
