Formerly known as George Piper Dances, founded in 2001 by Michael Nunn and William Trevitt, they have made a dramatic mark on the British dance scene, thrilling audiences and dance critics alike with their exhilarating mix of award winning repertoire, performance style and high artistic standards. Balletboyz aims to present dance of the highest quality by bringing together a collection of world-renowned choreographers, composers, artists, and designers. They present work that not only challenges but entertains. The company incorporates short films of the rehearsal process into its performances, demystifying the art of dance, and giving audiences an insight into the creative process.

The Talent
Entering the next phase of the company’s development, Michael and William decided to take a break from performing and instead scoured the country for the brightest and best dancing talent. Made up exclusively from young men aged 18 – 24 with a broad spectrum of capabilities, training and experience, 8 dancers were chosen in 2010 to form this new venture. Works included an exhilarating re-working of Russell Maliphant’s Torsion, as well as brand new commissions from Freddie Opoku-Addaie and Paul Roberts. In 2011 the tour returned with a new piece by young Czech choreographer Jarek Cemerek.

Michael and William embarked on their first full length work in 2005. Naked, a blend of film and contemporary dance is a modern tale of love, betrayal and revenge. Using a contemporary dance language developed by award-winning choreographer Russell Maliphant it features a specially commissioned score interwoven with both popular and classical music.

An Evening of Work by Russell Maliphant
The Ballet Boyz (Michael & Billy) were joined by Sylvie Guillem for an evening of work choreographed by Russell Maliphant. Torsion – a duet for Michael and Billy, Two – a powerful solo danced by Sylvie, and the trio Broken Fall – winner of the 2004 Olivier Award for Best New Dance Productions.
