Melissa’s classes are hugely popular and she’s well known for her teaching techniques and methods. Melissa belly dance school runs syllabus based courses that follow a specific structure and development phases to ensure students learn technically, safely and effectively.

Melissa’s teaching methods and approach use a variety of learning styles to ensure that all students are able to understand and grasp the concepts, techniques and moves in a way that is accessible to them. Each of the belly dance courses from level 1 to level 4 teach belly dance moves and techniques in a specific order to encourage muscle and brain connection, co-ordination and development. Each course builds strength in key belly dance muscles assisting progress in the current techniques and preparing the mind and body for the next stage and level in the Melissa BellyDance format. As you progress through the levels so will your body and your mind. Things that you never thought possible are now possible as you will have built and developed new synapses pathways enabling a strong and safe belly dance technique.

Level 1: Belly dance beginners and improvers.
Learn the basics in a fun and encouraging class, discover beginners and improvers isolation’s pops and shimmies and get in touch with your inner beauty. A great workout!
Level 1 belly dance will not only work up a sweat but will also give you a strong base in muscle isolation and technique. Your will discover muscles you never knew you had, and train them in the way of a belly dancer also giving you a brilliant mind-body connection.
Burn serious calories in the drills and techniques section, train your brain whilst learning new isolation’s, and have fun whilst dedicating time to your femininity!
Great for the complete beginner and those with a little experience who want to brush up on techniques.

Belly Dance Hip Hop Fusion – General Level
Melissa brought BellyDance HipHop to the UK and her classes are famous for being full of belly dance mixed with hip hop styling moves and steps, attitude, hair flicks, belly dance isolation’s and full on diva behaviour with plenty of swagga to keep you strutting your stuff even after the class!
Prepare to break all the rules, dance to all your favourite songs, have fun, sweat, let your hair down and let out your rebellious side. Shake it like Beyonce Shimmie like Shakira and work it like a Belly Dancer. This is a high energy class, lots of water a must.

Level 2 Belly Dance
Melissa’s belly dance intermediate level 2 classes will provide a physical and mental workout as you develop your belly dance isolation’s and techniques further.
Work on more complex drills and combinations, and learn more advanced techniques that stem from Melissa’s level 1 course.
Dance to upbeat Middle Eastern tunes, and begin to learn the ‘fluid’ side of belly dance, bending and flowing to more enticing music as you challenge yourself and build a deeper mind and body connection.

Level 3 Belly Dance
In Melissa’s Belly dance advanced Level 3 courses Learn travelling steps and foot patterns, focus on creating more 3D isolation’s and contractions, making your movements more internal and more precise, and learn the most advanced of the belly dance steps. Focus on tying it all together, prepare to push yourself in a challenging yet fun course that focuses on your development as a Belly Dancer.
Begin to hone in on the art of ‘layering’ (multiple techniques and isolation’s happening at the same time)
The wide base of movement vocabulary you will now know from level 1 to level 3 will now allow you to learn more complex and varied drills and combinations from smooth and flowy techniques to pops and locks with precision and power.
Detox your body, train your brain, stimulate your femininity and sweat away the stresses of the week!
Once you have taken level 2, graduation to level 3 is after you have spoken with Melissa.

Level 4 Belly Dance: Belly Dance Advanced Classes
This course is all about being a belly dancer – the course focuses on challenging but fun choreography and developing specific performance skills.
Each course will cover various techniques from veil to sword or floor work to drum solo’s, and students train in heels. (not compulsory)
The class will cover challenging and empowering drills and combinations that are a total accumulation of the skills you will have learnt from level 1- level 3.
Really learn to ‘dance’ and ‘perform’ with your belly dance techniques, push your own boundaries and develop yourself as a belly dancer in a high level yet supportive environment where you will really be pushed as a technical and skill full dancer.

Urban Tribal Fusion: For students with belly dance level 2/3 experience
Melissa’s tribal classes are well known for their challenging techniques and her teaching methods to help you grasp your inner, darker Tribal beauty.
Learn key Tribal techniques, moves and stylisation.
The course covers Tribal style strength training, tribal style floor work, learning how to move like water through fluidity of isolation’s and snake like movements with serious attitude and internal control. Intricate moves and sequences are taught, begin layering your movements with an emphasis on the ‘urban tribal’ style.
Find yourself falling sweetly deeper into the darker side of the belly dance realm…

Belly Balance Yoga Fusion: General level.
Belly Balance Yoga is a fusion of yoga and belly dance. Melissa introduces the 1st course of its kind to the UK!
This course will be sure to have you floating on a cloud after class. Mix the flow of yoga and the meditative yet invigorating moves of belly dance leaving you feeling like a serene goddess. Belly dance and Yoga are the perfect combination of strength, beauty and grace.
The yoga side not only increases flexibility, reduces stress but will also strongly assist your technique as a belly dancer allowing you to dance with more control and master the harder techniques of both yoga and belly dance with more ease.
Yoga gives the body an internal massage, whilst clearing the mind, reducing stress, strengthening and detoxifying the body.
Belly dance is the dance of the feminine soul allowing you to get in touch with your sensuality.
Both will build on muscle tone, strength, and flexibility.
A great class for overall well being both mentally and physically.

Latin Belly Dance
This course fuses bellydance with all things Latin. A high energy class, creating a real party vibe, lots of sweating and hip swaying so lots of water a must!
There will be a mix of Reggaton, Salsa, Brazilian Samba, and of course Belly Dance. Learn Latin styling fused with belly dance techniques, learn turns and spins, salsa steps and Brazilian samba techniques all in this sizzling hot and spicy class. Take your self to the heart of the party, let you hair down and celebrate Latino style. (Heels optional)
General level. No experience necessary and no partner work involved.
