News: Young Creatives at the Royal Opera House

Thursday 8 April 2010

Thirteen young choreographers will be showing their work in the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House this Friday evening.

They are taking part in Youth Dance England’s Young Creatives choreography and mentoring programme, which gives 15-19 year olds from across the country the opportunity to develop their choreographic work with highly experienced, professional choreographers. The one off performance follows a week long training residential at the Royal Ballet School, during which they’ve created two new dance pieces in two days. These new works will be shown alongside 12 pieces already made.

This years Young Creatives are: Jake Beckett (17) from London; Jennifer Smith (18) Blackburn, Lancashire; Kimberley Ellison (16) from Chorley, Lancashire; Charlie Ford (18) from Altrincham, Cheshire; Danny Baker (18), from Folkestone, Kent; David Morley (15) Southampton, Hampshire; Sam Harbour (17), Folkestone, Kent; Harry Davies & Dani Carre (15), Chichester, West Sussex; Felicity Kerr (18), Taunton, Somerset; Caldy Walton (18), Shrewsbury, Shropshire; Freya Thomas (18), Newport, Shropshire; Alice Wilkins (19), Knottingley, West Yorkshire. They were chosed for the annual programme by a selection panel from the Royal Opera House and the Royal Ballet School.
