Inspired by Kenneth Grahame’s melancholy depiction of a gentler England that was about to disappear into a war, choreographer Will Tuckett and poet Andrew Motion discuss how they adapted the classic book into a family Christmas show.

I wanted the City bankers in the audience to say, “Oh, sod it” and join in the fun. I wanted 11-year-old boys who’d been dragged away from their Xboxes to have a laugh. I wanted to show you can have red-velvet-curtain quality without the buttoned-up-ness.
