The full line up for Youth Dance England’s flagship event, U.Dance 2012 has been announced featuring a new work by Hofesh Shechter.

The three day youth dance festival will take place at Southbank Centre from 13th to 15th July 2012. 32 groups from across the country have been selected to perform on Queen Elizabeth Hall and Royal Festival Hall stages with festival patron Arlene Phillips opening the festival on Friday 13.

The event will include three evening performances, showcasing youth dance groups who have been selected from regional heats since January. London groups include A-D-1 Dance Company, Shift, Rouge, Montage Theatre Arts and FrogHouse Dance Company.

U.Dance 2012 will also see the premiere of the newly established U.Dance Ensemble, a UK-wide youth dance company, with their new work choreographed by Hofesh Shechter. Other groups also performing include CandoCo Youth Dance Company and London’s Centres for Advanced Training (Trinity Laban and The Place).

The festival will also include open workshops, a U.Dance Fringe platform programmed by YDE’s National Youth Dance Ambassadors in the Clore Ballroom, dance film screenings and a two-day conference on choreography by and with young people.
