Artistic director and chief executive of Sadler’s Wells, Alistair Spalding, writes about taking Breakin’ Convention to Harlem in New York,

“We head to the Apollo, taking our seats for the first performance. The 1,500-seat theatre is almost full, and I can’t help feeling apprehensive. Will the hip-hop aficionados appreciate our interpretation of something that New Yorkers can rightfully claim was born in their city?”
