Monday 14 February 2005

Arts Council England, London has awarded funds for four fellows to take part in the Senior Dance Managers’ Fellowship Programme which was launched in October 2004.

They are designed to enhance the professional development of experienced dance managers, and are due to start in Spring 2005.

The Fellowships will be hosted by four dance organisations; Rambert Dance Company, The Place/Richard Alston, Dance Umbrella and Sadler’s Wells. The selected fellows are:

Amanda Jones – Rambert Dance Company

Helen Shute – The Place

Jeanette Hoskins – Dance Umbrella

Suzanne Walker – Sadler’s Wells

Jeanette Siddall, Director of Dance, Arts Council England said: ‘The fellowships offer a rare opportunity for experienced managers to develop their leadership skills. At the same time, the fellowships provide a means of spreading the knowledge and skills that the host organisations have built up over the years. I am enormously grateful to the host organisations, congratulate the fellows and wish them all possible success with their placements.’

The fellowships are structured work-based training programmes for people with dance management experience, and have been offered at a senior level in order to respond to the future needs of leading middle scale dance companies.

The project is managed by Showhow, a not-for-profit organisation that provides development opportunities for creative people and organisations and has been developed as part of Arts Council England’s continued commitment to personal development.
