News: Royal Opera House Autumn Cinema Season

The Royal Opera House Cinema Season opens this Autumn with Swan Lake, performed by the Royal Ballet with Zenaida Yanowsky and Nehemiah Kish in the title roles. Nine productions, including ballet and opera, will be screened from October 2012 to June 2013. Now in over 900 cinemas across 32 countries, the Royal Opera House Cinema Season continues to expand each year.

The line up of Royal Ballet productions this season includes:

Swan Lake (Live)

Swan Lake tells the tale of Prince Siegfried who sees a flock of swans alighting whilst out hunting. Witnessing its queen transform into the beautiful maiden Odette from his hiding place, he falls madly in love, but she has been enchanted by an evil spell. Only the power of first love, eternally sworn, can free her. . .

The Nutcracker (Live)

The Nutcracker is a perennial Christmas favourite for children and adults alike with its intoxicating score by Tchaikovsky, a Christmas tree that magically seems to grow, a fierce battle between the toy soldiers and the army of mice led by the Mouse King, and the famous dance of The Sugar Plum Fairy danced by Roberta Marquez, with Steven McRae as the Prince.
