News: Open Rehearsal

This weekend the doors to many of London’s leading arts venues are open for anyone who fancies a peek behind the scenes! Open Rehearsal has been organised by the Mayor’s Office and aims to give an insight on the vibrant arts scene of the city. Dozens of music, theatre and dance venues and companies are involved – and they’re offering more than a chance to watch rehearsals; there are talks, demonstrations and even the chance to take part in classes. Check the website for full listings across all art forms, but we’ve done the browsing for you on the dance related offerings:

Union Dance will be rehearsing their latest programme of work Heaven on Earth at The Borough Hall Greenwich on Friday 28 September , between 1pm and 5pm. Just drop in any time.

Ballet Central will be in open rehearsal at their City based centre on Saturday 29 Septmember from 12.30pm and 2pm.

Sadller’s Wells offers backstage tours at 2pm, 2.30pm and 3pm on Saturday 29 September. There’s also a chance to take part in a workshop with one of the hottest choreographers of the moment – Hofesh Shechter from 1 – 2.30pm at Sadler’s Wells (Some experience required and booking is essential.).

On Sunday 30 September there’s the chance to dance with English National Ballet – even if you’ve never danced a step before! Take a beginners class – or intermediate if you’ve had more than three years experience of ballet classes. (Cost: £6)
