News: One Extraordinary Day

Thursday 21 June 2012

We don’t know when yet, but one day in July will see 36 daredevil dancers jump, swoop & soar from seven landmark London buildings.

New York based ‘action specialist’ (she prefers that, to ‘dancer’ ) Elizabeth Streb is the mastermind behind the event, which is organized by the Mayor of London as part of the London 2012 Festival. She talks to the Evening Standard:

“I believe music is the true enemy of dance… my interest is action for action’s sake.”…“I like to think of us as action’s answer to rock ’n’ roll..We do things you would never imagine. We slam into walls, we dive through glass, we put fires out with our bodies. But One Extraordinary Day is as far as I’ve ever gone. In some of the events we’re freefalling from 40 feet. It’s going to be the most dangerous thing I’ve done.”
