The Olivier Awards took place at the Royal Opera House on Sunday (15 April).

Akram Khan won the Best New Dance Production category for his solo show Desh – and Edward Watson’s role in Authur Pita’s ROH2 production The Metamorphosis was earned him the Outstanding Achievement in Dance award.

Peter Farmer won the Best Theatre Choreographer category for his work on the multi award winning Matilda The Musical and Crazy For You picked up the award for the Best Musical Revival, featuring choreography by Stephen Mear.

Dame Monica Mason, who leaves her role as Artistic Director at the Royal Ballet later this year received a Special Award in honour of her life time of achievement with the company.

Catch Akram Khan’s Desh again at Sadler’s Wells later this year, from 2 – 6 October

Further performances of The Metamorphosis are scheduled at the Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House in March 2013 (not yet on sale).
