Olivier Awards 2003
The Olivier Awards for 2003 were announced at the Royal Opera House today, Friday 14 Feb.
The award for the Best New Dance Production went to Danses Concertantes, principals and soloists of New York City Ballet ‘Polyphonia’ at Sadler’s Wells. The other nominations were Rosas’ Rain Sadler’s Wells, Rennie Harris Puremovement’s Rome And Jewels at The Peacock and The Royal Ballet’s Tryst At The Royal Opera House.

Matthew Bourne And Company received the Best Theatre Choreographer and Best Entertainment for ‘Play Without Words’ at the Lyttelton Theatre.

The Outstanding Achievement In Dance went to Robyn Orlin for the creative originality of *Daddy, I’ve Seen This Piece Six Times And I Still Don’t Know Why They’re Hurting Each Other* at The Pit. The other nominations were The Company Of Kontakthof esented By Pina Bausch Tanztheater Wuppertal at the Barbican, Chiaki Nagao for her performance in Northern Ballet Theatre’s Madame Butterfly at Sadler’s Wells and Christopher Wheeldon for his choreography of The Royal Ballet’s Tryst at The Royal Opera House and New York City Ballet’s Polyphonia at Sadler’s Wells.
