Visual arts curator and researcher Lauren A Wright is to join Southwark based Siobhan Davies Dance in the new post of Programme Director next month. She will be working with Artistic Director Siobhan Davies to further translate the organisation’s vision into a strategic and coherent artistic programme, identifying partnerships and artists for new projects and programmes around the works of the organisation, while seeking distribution opportunities and the re-contextualisation of existing works. Working alondside Siobhan Davies, she will also act as lead curator of programming at Siobhan Davies Studios.

Siobhan Davies said: “The thought of having Lauren’s dynamic, rigorous intelligence as part of the Siobhan Davies Dance team is irresistible. I am looking forward to continuing our conversations, ones which challenge us both and support our mutual desire to further definitions of choreography and dance alongside other contemporary arts. Lauren and I wish to create situations in which the artists, venues and audiences can share what happens when the good company which exists between the arts, as well as amongst other disciplines, occurs.”

Lauren A Wright has over ten years experience as a visual arts curator, writer and researcher. She was formerly Director of Programme at the Hepworth Wakefield and from 2010 – 14 was Curator at Turner Contemporary in Margate. In 2015 she was Artistic Director and Curator of the 2015 Biennial of the Americas in Denver, Colorado.

“I am delighted to take up this post amidst the celebration of 10 ground-breaking years at Siobhan Davies Studios,” she said. “I look forward to deepening my engagement with contemporary dance which I love deeply, and to furthering the organisation’s rich collaborations among international dance artists, visual artists, thinkers and audiences.”

The new post is supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
