News: Monica Mason stays at helm of Royal Ballet

Launching details of their programme for 2005/6 today, the Royal Opera House announced that Monica Mason will remain as Director of the Royal Ballet until 2010. She had been due to retire next year. Tony Hall, Chief Executive of the Royal Opera House said: Since her appointment as Director in 2002, Monica has instilled in the Company a determined, calming security and purpose of direction. The Company is clearly flourishing under her inspired, dedicated leadership and the extra time at her disposal will allow her to strengthen on her immense successes to date, and develop further the talents of The Royal Ballet. As we enter The Royal Ballet’s 75th birthday year the Company are looking forward to many new challenges which they will share and enjoy with Monica at the helm.
