East London Dance has announced the names of the next participants in The Fi.ELD (Future Innovators. East London Dance) – a professional development programme for young people aiming to make a career in dance production, which the Stratford based organisation, with the support of the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation, has been running since 2013.

The Fi.ELD 2015 partipants are: Jumar Aben, Rachel Brennan, Michaela Cisarikova, Erika V.Gil., Lucy Matthews, Beccy McTaggart, Jo Molyneux, Muti Musafiri, Jamie Neale, Leigh Robinson, Milanda Sasha, Lily Simmons, Anna Stracyznska, and David Waker – full details on East London Dance’s website.

These 15 performers, all aged 16 – 25, will be embarking on an 8 month programme to develop the skills, resources and contacts they need to make their ideas happen. Led by Kate Scanlan (Scanner’s Inc, freelance producer and one of the founders of Breakin’ Convention) and Emma Kerr (Creative Producer: Participation and Events), the collective will learn from industry leaders to develop their skills, work together to programme their own studio and pitch, Dragon’s Den- style, to receive funding to produce their own festival, as well as taking advantage of paid and voluntary work experience opportunities at East London Dance.

“The impact of both Year 1 and Year 2 has been wide-ranging and The Fi.ELD have found many different contexts in which to be innovative,” says Emma Kerr. “Some are launching events, shows, festivals, a film, and others have taken their skills and actively set up new concepts and projects. Within one year, all are reaping the reward of this invaluable training. We’ve selected another fantastic bunch of individuals and I’m looking forward to what this next group brings to The Fi.ELD!”
