News: Malcolm Fraser

- is the architect of Dance Base in Edinburgh, Dance City in Newcastle, and now the designer for Scottish Ballet’s new building in Glasgow.

Dominic Bradbury talks to him about his latest commision, “for Fraser, there is a subtle balancing act under way, in honouring the need for light-filled dance studios with a sense of security and privacy, as well as creating a new landmark building for the arts.”

Malcolm Fraser explains why his buildings work so well for dance, “When you are dancing, whirling about, you really need to understand the simple geometry of the space you are in,… I know that dancers like our buildings because we are not trying to impose something on their art form – we are trying to help enable it.”
