The Society of London Theatre (SOLT) is now taking applications from dance audience members to join the expert panel of professional and public judges of the Olivier Awards with MasterCard – the most prestigious awards in London theatre.

There are four panels – including one for dance. It offers a unique chance for a successful applicant to spend a year watching some of the best dance in the world and judging the shows before capping the experience by attending the 2015 awards ceremony and after-show party.

This year’s judging period starts on 26 February 2014 and runs for roughly a year. Applicants must be 18 years or older, live within easy reach of London and able to commit to seeing all the eligible shows in their category during the judging year. Panellists usually receive two free, best available tickets to each show, plus a complimentary programme. The number of shows differs between categories, ranging from about 100 plays and musicals for Theatre to some 30 performances in Opera.

The standard application process includes sending in a 150 word review, as well as a list of productions seen in the past year. Applications must be received by 20 January 2014 and short-listed candidates will be required for interview at the SOLT offices in Covent Garden on either 29 January or 6 February 2014. The position is unpaid, and expenses are not covered.
