News: Help Save the Arts

Tuesday 14 September 2010

Over a hundred leading artists – including David Hockney, Anish Kapoor, Antony Gormley and Tracey Emin have joined the campaign to make the case against the proposed 25% cut in government funding for the arts.

The Save the Arts Campaign is being organised by the London branch of the Turning Point Network – a national consortium of over 2,000 arts organisations and artists dedicated to working together and finding new ways to support the arts in the UK.

The aim is to collect over 100,000 signatures on a petition to present to Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt and the campaign will feature the work of different artists on a weekly basis.

It started last week with this animation by David Shrigley:

and continues this week with a poster by Jeremy Deller and a new contribution from Mark Wallinger coming soon. See them all and sign the petition on
