Phoenix wins Business Link Award

Phoenix wins Business Link Award

Phoenix Dance Theatre, based in Leeds, has received a grant from Business Link West Yorkshire to help raise its profile overseas. Members of the company will attend ‘The Arts Presenters’ conference and exhibition in New York early next year. The five-day event is an international showcase for performing arts companies seeking to obtain bookings throughout North America. Says Phoenix’ Marketing Manager Amy Richardson: “ We realise that Phoenix Dance Theatre is an unusual business to promote overseas but we need to market our performances just the same as any other product or services. Videos and photographs only show so much, so we are planning to send out 4 of our dancers to give ‘taster’ performances at the conference in New York. This is something we couldn’t have thought about doing without the grant and we are very excited about this chance to capture audiences in the US and maybe beyond.”

Jo McBeath, Senior International Trade Adviser at Business Link West Yorkshire said : “The company is a local and national success story and they are now looking to break new ground overseas. Attending the event in New York is, of course, no guarantee that they will get bookings in the US, but it’s a going to be great opportunity to showcase their work to the right people and it increases their chances of success.”

Phoenix Dance Theatre has enjoyed widespread success for many years. ‘Planted Seeds’ the autumn tour runs through October and November.
London dates: 4 – 8 Nov @ the Place
