It is believed to be the first of its kind and and has been convened by Dance South West, the new national dance agency working across South West England, in partnership with National Rural Touring Forum, the Foundation for Community Dance and Take Art with support from Arts Council England South West.

The programme will include a number of distinguished contributors: writer and researcher Francois Matarasso, dance critic Donald Hutera, with live performance by Bare Bones, Stop Gap, Stacked Wonky, and guest artists from Finland, Jukka and Saila Ristolainen.

Kate Castle, Director, Dance South West said ‘We hope this symposium will lead to a greater understanding of dance outside of the city and of the unique relationships artists build with promoters and audiences – where the place and the people meet.’
