A launch event for the 2016 edition of the annual Bloch Dance World Cup – organised by the world famous makers of ballet shoes for over three generations – took place at the company’s Covent Garden store yesterday (28 April). Hosted by Patron Kimberly Wyatt (ex Pussycat Doll and Got to Dance judge) it was attended by young ballerinas from the England, Wales and Scotland teams (pictured)

The Dance World Cup competition was started in 2004 and is open to anyone attending a non-state run dance school, performing in a range of dance genres. Under Chairman John Grimshaw, the competition has continued to grow in size, including thousands of entrants from all over the world aged between 4 and 25.

This year’s competition takes place in Jersey (25 June – 2 July). Judges include Paddy Hurling, Pineapple Jazz choreographer Dollie Henry, Billy Elliot choreographer Nikki Belsher, dancer Nina Kripas, Marco Aurelio, Luca Tozzi, Alexandru Fotescu, Monica Albert, Jennifer Haley, dance adjudicator Karen Collings and Alberto Franceschini.
