Royal Ballet costume sale

Get down to Purfleet, Essex to bag your self a ballet bargain in the latest Royal Opera House costume sale on the weekend of 24 & 25 September.

More than 1500 costumes from a range of opera and ballet productions are up for grabs – including many from the The Royal Ballet’s 2002 production of The Sleeping Beauty.
Others include the post-war Paris, Dior’s ‘New Look’ inspired costumes from the opera Boulevard Solitude designed by Tobias Hoheisel, modern day suits from the 2009 production of Cosi fan tutte; costumes from Katya Kabanova by Maria Bjornson, (designer of Phantom of the Opera) and by Marie-Jean Lecca for Masquerade in 2005. Other productions include Duke Bluebeard’s Castle, Erwartung, Don Carlo from 1958, Parsifal and Pelléas et Mélisande. All proceeds from the sale will go towards the work of the Royal Opera House.

The sale takes place at the ROH’s Essex base – the new Bob and Tamar Production Workshop in Purfleet, so it’s a great opportunity to check out the High House Production Park (of which the workshop is a part) with its café, orchard, kitchen and walled gardens – and views of the Thames estuary.
