Monday 16 August 2004

- is the interim Artistic Director at Sadler’s Wells. He’s been programming dance in London for the past 10 years, at the Wells and previously on the South Bank. ‘In what has been a key decade for dance in the capital, Spalding has brought in a slew of high-profile foreign companies, such as those of Pina Bausch, Mark Morris, Paul Taylor and Twyla Tharp. He has actively promoted the careers of British artists such as Matthew Bourne, Wayne McGregor and Adam Cooper. It’s almost impossible to overstate his importance as a shaper of public dance taste.’ Debra Craine, Times, 16 Aug
