Arts Council England has announced the funding of a new National Youth Dance Company and four new In Harmony projects. The two large scale programmes have been established in response to Darren Henley’s recent review of Cultural Education.

The National Youth Dance Company will offer 30 talented 16-19 year olds a year, training and performance opportunities by leading choreographers. The three year funding is confirmed at up to £400,000 per year from 2012-15 and ACE is loooking for a leading dance organisation or collection of dance organisations to deliver.

In Harmony is a national programme focused on empowering deprived young people through orchestral music. ACE is looking to commission four organisations to deliver new In Harmony projects between 2012 and 2015.

Application deadline for both commissions is 11am, Monday 25 June.

The establishment of a National Youth Dance Company and four In Harmony projects will contribute to the council’s goal of every child and young person having the opportunity to experience the power of the arts.
