News: A new home for the BalletBoyz
The BalletBoyz will be leaving their current premises at Sadler’s Wells, where they’ve been based since 2005, to move to a new home in Kingston upon Thames next month. The company will retain their Associate Artist status with the Wells.
“After seven years of leading a somewhat nomadic existence when it comes to rehearsing and having a physical base for the company,” comments Michael Nunn, co-founder of BalletBoyz with William Trevitt, “our new home in Kingston upon Thames will mean that, for the first time in the company’s 12 year history, we will have a permanent studio facility available to us 365 days a year.”
The new premises were a chance find as Billy (William Trevitt) explains,
“We were walking down the street, saw this fantastic old building, realised it was empty and looked through the window,” says Billy. “We realised that with a lick of paint and a bit of renovation – OK, a lot of renovation! – it would make a fantastic permanent home for BalletBoyz. We’re thrilled and can’t wait to move in!”
BalletBoyz new home will consist of two studios – a main one for the company and a smaller space for additional rehearsal/creative projects as well as outside hires – offices for company management and editing facilities.
The BalletBoyz new show the TALENT 2013 will be touring from January 2013. The company will be presenting a double bill of new works by Liam Scarlett and Russell Maliphant.
