Congratulations to Lin Hornby, Fiona Geilinger, Tae Higashino, Angie Hale & Miranda Hunt who all win DVDS – the answer to the question Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake & Sleeping Beauty both use music by Tchaikovsky. Which other Bourne production is set to a score by the same composer?
was Nutcracker!

A newly recorded version of Matthew Bourne’s landmark production of Swan Lake has just been released on DVD and Blu-ray. The 2010 production – featuring Richard Winsor as The Swan/Stranger – was filmed at Sadler’s Wells last year, for the first time in High Definition.

When it premiered at Sadler’s Wells in 1995, Bourne’s modern day interpretation of the ballet classic was revolutionary – replacing the traditional female corps de ballet with a flock of powerful male swans. As ever, Lez Brotherston’s designs provide the perfect setting for Bourne’s blend of dance, humour and spectacle.

Matthew Bourne is celebrating 25 years of work with his company New Adventures (formerly Adventures in Motion Picture) in 2012. This year has seen revivals of early works and the award winning Play Without Words touring the UK – and the Christmas show at Sadler’s Wells will be his much anticipated new version of Sleeping Beauty – completing his Tchaikovsky ballet trilogy

Swan Lake isn’t in the New Adventures repertoire at the moment – so take the opportunity to see this new HD recording on Blu-ray or DVD – and enter our competition!

Competition closed at 10am, Friday 14 December.
