'The Company' DVD The DVD of Robert Altman’s film will be released later this month (RRP £19.99)

Throughout a distinguished career, Robert Altman has surprised, entertained and challenged audiences with vibrant, freewheeling films that stretch the boundaries of the medium. With The Company, he follows up the stunning success of the Academy Award winning Gosford Park with an intimate look behind the scenes of the world of a ballet company: the difficult daily work, the enormous pressures of performance, the richly textured behaviours of the dancers whose professional and personal lives grow impossibly close and, of course, the sheer beauty of the dances.

The DVD will be released on 11 October 2004 by Momentum Pictures (RRP £19.99). The cast includes the award winning Neve Campbell (Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, Wild Things, Party of Five), who also co-wrote the story with Barbara Turner, the enigmatic Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Star Trek: Generations, Fantasy Island, O Lucky Man!)and James Franco (City By The Sea, Spider-Man, James Dean). The film also features The Joffrey Ballet of Chicago, one of the world’s leading ballet companies whose innovations have influenced dance companies across America.
