Feature: Spotlight on: NYDC's Apex Rising

Over the nights of the 4 & 5 September, National Youth Dance Company will present two diverse programmes of dance in Apex Rising, showcasing the innovative young performers who will be shaping the future of dance.

The first evening will be a retrospective look at the three years of NYDC, showcasing what this vibrant young company has already contributed with a panorama of their commissioned repertoire choreographed by Sadler’s Wells Associate Artists. There will be pieces from Jasmin Vardimon, Akram Khan, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

The second evening will present a confluence of styles and energy featuring influential work from Groupe Grenade–Josette Baïz performing repertoire by Wayne McGregor and Hofesh Shechter, National Youth Dance Company of Scotland presenting work by Anna Kenrick, National Youth Dance Wales performing a newly commissioned piece by Kerry Nicholls and NYDC presenting a restaged excerpt of Akram Khan’s Vertical Road
