News: Russell Maliphant Company launches new education programme

Internationally acclaimed choreographer Russell Maliphant has launched a new Education Programme. It offers venues, youth companies, schools (from Key Stage 4 upwards), colleges and universities the chance to access the Russell Maliphant Company’s work – supporting dancers, teachers and artists at any stage in their careers.

Marking the launch of this new programme of work, the Company have created their first ever Resource Pack. providing unique insight into Maliphant’s artistic practice exploring his background and training, performance career, early influences, movement language, and creative process.

The richly detailed resource includes interviews with the choreographer himself, long-time close collaborators Lighting Designer Michael Hulls and dancer/collaborative assistant Dana Fouras, as well as former company dancer Carys Staton. Links to video extracts of Maliphant’s work and other online articles and academic papers are also included. Whether you are studying dance seriously, or an occasional attender of contemporary dance performances,there will be plenty of interest in this Resource Pack – available as a free download now.

The Company’s new education programme gives tools in performance, creation and dance technique through workshops, masterclasses, residencies and opportunities for mentoring. The variety of workshops offered incorporate a range of disciplines, focusing on one form, or a combination of styles and can be tailored to meet the requirements of different learning environments.
