North Greenwich tube station John Lyall – the architect who chaired the event has a particular interest in dance.
He has worked on several dance projects with Rosemary Butcher, including 2d, 3d and Body as Site, performed at venues ranging from Glasgows Tramway to Guildford Cathedral, the Royal College of Art to the Tate of the North.
He talked about the stimulation of exploring a common language and through entering a collaborative creative process, often exceeding expectations. He has recently won a competition for a large waterside regeneration project in Ipswich, which will include a new home for Dance East.
Several London stations are his design, including the award winning North Greenwich Station on the Jubilee line.
He described the excitement of designing buildings which contain huge flows of people in movement – choreography of a kind.
