Feature: Behind the scenes of Compass

Thursday 9 August 2012

Compass, produced by Sadler’s Wells’ Creative Learning department, united a team of choreographers, a writer, a film-maker, composers and musicians with a cast of over 100 dancers, encompassing all ages and levels of experience.

Sadler’s Wells celebrated the Cultural Olympiad with the presentation of World Cities 2012, a season of work from Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, inspired by different cities around the world. This was the starting point for Compass, as a group of artists and participants from diverse cultural backgrounds gathered together to create a dance work that showed that, although we all live in one city, there are many worlds within that city and many routes ‘home’.
