Boy Blue Entertainment - The Five and the Prophecy of Prana - Barbican Theatre

    Graham Watts, Thursday 24 October 2013 — Performance: 23 October - 2 November 2013

The idea of using hip hop dance theatre to work alongside manga graphics to tell a traditional martial arts story of good versus evil is terrific but all the elements need tightening to enhance the overall added value. Continue Reading

  3. Royal Ballet - Romeo and Juliet - Royal Opera House

Press Review 4Laura Thompson, Telegraph, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance in rep until 7 December 2013

There is something mysteriously British about Cuthbertson’s onstage aspect. She is serious yet spry, her every move purged of affectation. And her directness makes her a profoundly moving Juliet, with the potential to be one of the great exponents of the role.

    Flexer & Sandiland - Weightless

    Charlotte Constable, Thursday 24 October 2013 — Performance: 10 October - coming to The Place, 8 & 9 November 2013

The most stirring highlight comes as Flexer dons a pair of feather wings... It's the kind of magic in which Flexer& Sandiland’s collaboration truly shines & simply has to be seen. Go. Continue Reading

  5. Boy Blue Entertainment - The Five and the Prophecy of Prana - Barbican Theatre

    Press Review 3Sarah Crompton, Telegraph, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance 23 October - 2 November 2013

The Five is enjoyable and brave but ultimately flawed: its conclusion hints at a sequel but its creators would do better to reshape and hone this initial tale until its theatricality is worthy of the talent that has made it.

    Press Review 4Zoe Anderson, Independent, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance 23 October - 2 November 2013

Theo ‘Godson’ Oloyade has surprising sweetness as the chubby member of the Five. When he shapes up – revealing Oloyade’s own astonishing abs – he keeps a sense of warmth in his powerful moves. The Five rambles, but its dancers don’t waste a second.

    Press Review 3Siobhan Murphy, Metro, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance 23 October - 2 November 2013

..fiercely talented dancers pull off what resemble hyper-stylised, rigorously choreographed fighting kata, which look amazing and are clearly fiendishly hard to pull off at speed on a live stage.

  8. Boy Blue Entertainment - The Five and the Prophecy of Prana - Barbican Theatre

Press Review Neil Norman, The Stage, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance 23 October - 2 November 2013

The arresting visuals – beautifully realised manga illustrations on video screens and sections of the set – and the thoroughbred dancers reveal a commitment to a project that is strangely non-involving.

  9. Rambert - Mixed bill - Sadler's Wells

    Press Review 2Zoe Anderson, Independent, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance 22 - 26 October 2013

Rambert.. is currently riding high, with a shiny new home built on London’s South Bank. Though the company’s commitment to new work is admirable, the revivals of the autumn tour repertory are more fun.

  10. Boy Blue Entertainment - The Five and the Prophecy of Prana - Barbican Theatre

    Press Review 3Judith Mackrell, Guardian, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance 23 October - 2 November 2013

The characterisation is sharp and sweet, from the hard-girl swagger of Max and Michelle, to the spidery-limbed menace of Soo Lin, and Kendrick Sandy’s kung-fu inflected choreography is by far the best I’ve seen from him.

  11. Boy Blue Entertainment - The Five and the Prophecy of Prana - Barbican Theatre

    Press Review 4Lyndsey Winship, Evening Standard, Thursday 24 October 2013Performance 23 October - 2 November 2013

The latest show from Boy Blue Entertainment is flawed but it’s a lot of fun. Its plot will baffle you but there’s so much talent, originality and humour here that it doesn’t really matter.

    Press Review 2Mark Monahan, Telegraph, Wednesday 23 October 2013Performance 22 - 26 October 2013

Subterrain, by Ashley Page, doughty former boss of Scottish Ballet and – at full throttle – a very fine contemporary-ballet choreographer indeed.
