  2. English National Ballet - The Nutcracker - London Coliseum

    Press Review 3Lyndsey Winship, Evening Standard, Friday 14 December 2012Performance 12 December - 5 January 2012

Eagling has thought it through and aimed for a more graceful arc, keeping the battle with the Mouse King as a running thread and dispensing with a Sugar Plum Fairy to allow the grown-up Clara to dance the grand pas de deux with her Nutcracker Prince.

  3. The Wind in the Willows - Linbury Studio Theatre

    Press Review 4Laura Thompson, Telegraph, Friday 14 December 2012Performance 17 December - 5 January 2013

Tuckett turns Kenneth Grahame’s 1908 children’s book – a timeless portrait of the English countryside – into something that is part-dance, part-narration (by Andrew Motion) and wholly, idiosyncratically theatrical. The staging is pretty much perfect.

  4. The Wind in the Willows - Linbury Studio Theatre

    Press Review 4Zoe Anderson, Independent, Friday 14 December 2012Performance 17 December - 5 January 2013

This tenth anniversary revival is the best I’ve seen, danced with particular warmth and energy.

    Press Review 3Lyndsey Winship, Evening Standard, Thursday 13 December 2012Performance 10 Dec 2012 - 16 Jan 2013

There’s a huge cast featuring some excellent Royal Ballet School students — the battle between tail-swinging rats and toy soldiers is much fun — and Steven McRae’s Prince dazzles (watch him nail those landings!).

  6. English National Ballet - The Nutcracker - London Coliseum

    Press Review 5Laura Thompson, Telegraph, Thursday 13 December 2012Performance 12 December - 5 January 2012

It has, too, the Nutcracker magic: the fairy dust, the wonderment. I thought so a year ago, and I now think it even more.

  15. New Adventures - Matthew Bourne’s Sleeping Beauty - Sadler's Wells

    Press Review 3Lyndsey Winship, Evening Standard, Monday 10 December 2012Performance 4 Dec - 26 Jan 2013

Bourne has taken some welcome liberties with the plot. For a start he installs a proper love story, so it’s not just a case of Princess Aurora shacking up with the first man she meets.
