  1. Royal Ballet - Hansel and Gretel - Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House

    Press Review 4Judith Mackrell, Guardian, Thursday 9 May 2013Performance 8 - 10 May 2013

This ballet is very nearly a dark, brilliant success, but what prevents it from being so is the occasional flatness of Dan Jones’s score and Scarlett’s own pacing.

  2. Royal Ballet - Hansel and Gretel - Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House

    Press Review 3Mark Monahan, Telegraph, Thursday 9 May 2013Performance 8 - 10 May 2013

Playing out in two halves of 60 and 40 minutes, in a bisected (and suitably dungeon-like) Linbury Studio, this dark-as-night traverse production grips for much of its first act.

  3. Royal Ballet - Hansel and Gretel - Linbury Studio Theatre, Royal Opera House

    Press Review 2Zoe Anderson, Independent, Thursday 9 May 2013Performance 8 - 10 May 2013

The imagery and the dancers are strong enough to put this concept over, but Scarlett’s choreography does little to help.

  6. C-12 Dance Theatre 'Shh!'

Review: C-12 Dance Theatre - Shhh! - Hawthorne Theatre, Welwyn Garden City

    Donald Hutera, Tuesday 7 May 2013 — Performance: 3 May 2013

This full-length production is the most ambitious yet from C-12 Dance Theatre, and thus a big step forward for Director/choreographer Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster and Executive Producer Adam Towndrow. The latter… Continue Reading

  7. Breakin' Convention 2013 - Sadler's Wells

    Press Review 4Sarah Crompton, Telegraph, Tuesday 7 May 2013Performance 4 - 6 May 2013

The energy of Breakin’ Convention – the way that the dancers and the enthusiastic and knowledgeable audience bring Sadler’s Wells to life – is always striking. But this is now matched by an increasing sense of possibility as street dance develops the confid…

  8. Breakin' Convention 2013 - Sadler's Wells

    Press Review 4Judith Mackrell, Guardian, Tuesday 7 May 2013Performance 4 - 6 May 2013

Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, the festival radiates an overwhelming sense of inclusiveness. With the all-female crew Zamounda performing alongside the gifted disabled crew ILL-Abilities, and with crowds of children mastering b-boy moves during interval workshop…

  9. Breakin' Convention 2013 - Sadler's Wells

    Press Review 4Lyndsey Winship, Evening Standard, Tuesday 7 May 2013Performance 4 - 6 May 2013

And at the other end of the night are headliners Project Soul, a South Korean crew with some blistering power moves. Their enjoyably baffling piece Urban Arirang considers Korean identity, and seems to pit the militarised North against the Gangnam-style South — altho…

  10. Breakin' Convention 2013 - Sadler's Wells

    Press Review 4Clement Crisp, Financial Times, Tuesday 7 May 2013Performance 4 - 6 May 2013

My heart was won by the Bad Taste Cru dancing to Dave Brubeck’s Take Five, which I thought witty, hard-edged, sure in focus – some of the other works on display tended to sprawl – sizzling in energy, and meriting a filmed record.

Review: RUBBERBANDance Group - Gravity of Center - Purcell Room, Southbank Centre

    Donald Hutera, Tuesday 7 May 2013 — Performance: 2 & 3 May 2013

Quijada has a quartet of technically killer dancers alongside him.. they tuck into a juicily hybrid movement vocabulary combining the gravitational pull of hip hop with the light-footed steps-consciousness of ballet. Continue Reading

  13. Breakin' Convention 2013 - Sadler's Wells

    Press Review 4Zoe Anderson, Independent, Monday 6 May 2013Performance 4 - 6 May 2013

  14. RUBBERBANDance Group - Gravity of Center - Purcell Room, Southbank Centre

    Press Review 3Judith Mackrell, Guardian, Sunday 5 May 2013Performance 2 & 3 May 2013

Quijada is doing something really interesting with the language of dance – but not so much with the choreography.

  15. Nijinsky: A Life - Lucy Moore - Book Review

Press Review Peter Conrad, Observer, Sunday 5 May 2013Performance

Lucy Moore retells the familiar story engagingly, with due deference to Richard Buckle’s completer account, but she can’t help expressing her bafflement about a man whose art denied him a verbal outlet while requiring him to work through a series of mysteri…
